And yes it is time for part 2 of my look into what makes minecraft minecraft. Firstly it’s time for my personal Favourite, Desert biomes.

Desert Biomes:

 OK so here I am just gonna put it out there, I LOVE THIS BIOME :D! I dunno why really, maybe it’s the fact that it makes finding dungeons easy, or maybe it’s the way the new desert villages look but from any angle, this biome looks awesome.

I know it looks awesome right? And now for a ground veiw…..

Apart from the odd hill, this biome is almost completely flat, meaning you can just sprint directly through it without a second thought, just watch out for the cactuses. Which brings me to the flora (a fancy word for the plants) Now here is what I find interesting, this biome has no mushrooms growing up on the land (only in caves rarely) and absolutely NO TREES AT ALL!

So how is this biome any use then? Well because if two things, cactuses and sugarcane. Cactuses only grow on sand and are abundant in this biome. Cactuses can be placed anywhere on sand and then grow up to three blocks high, this means you can set up a barrier of cactuses in this biome easily and then watch as your enemies die from touching your precious cactuses…. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Now despite being a desert this biome has a hell of a lot of lakes, which is a point that I don’t like, firstly it’s a friggen’ desert. secondly it would be more easier to go through if you didn’t keep falling in all the lakes. However, all the water plus the flat landscape makes it really easy to find sugar cane.

Speaking of lakes guess what else is easy to find in this biome? Especially at night?

Lava lakes! :D

They may be slightly dangerous but it saves you a long trip underground and it is not just dangerous to you, cooked zombie brains anyone? No? …… *munch* Lava is very useful and having it this conveniently without the worry of it burning down trees makes it even better.  

Another good part of deserts is that it is easier to find caves, and more importantly what you find at the entrance of these caves is what is important, lots of sandstone.

While you can make sandstone by putting sand into a 4x4 grid, this is easier and by far looks awesome, they hang upside-down in a stalactite-like fashion, unfortunately this means that if you mine it, you will get flattened by sand….. they didn’t really think about that did they?

What this biome is not good for: Staying alive. There is not much shelter from enemies and even hiding in the ground is a non-option. Another thing, obviously, is wood and even growing trees, but if you REALLY want to grow trees in a desert biome, just place some dirt. If you surround them by cactuses for defence be careful as any items that are dropped onto cactuses get destroyed.

What this biome is good for: Building a house: While it may not have the best resources it does have plenty of flat land to work with. Not to mention unlike other biomes you won’t have to waste your time clearing the ground of snow or grass. Not to mention with a few montains getting stone is easy and every now and then you can even find a dungeon! This is because the dungeon spawns with no roof and the sand then falls into it in a perfect rectaungular shape, just clear away the sand and instant treasure!

Overall look of the biome: Easy to build, easy to mine, easy to run through, easy to fight in this biome is good for nearly everything! (if you have already made a few pit-stops in other biomes for food, wood and dirt) This biome is amazing, just amazing. My score?
